This course aims at introducing various aspects of linguistic topics relating to the study of the Arabic language. It concentrates on the studies of ancient and modern Arab scholars. Topics such as the following will be studied: the evolution of Arabic, the emergence of standard Arabic(al-fusha) and the relationship between fusha and the other dialects.
